Language portfolio
"You never know when your biggest weakness will become your greatest flex."
That's exactly what happened to me with English. In elementary and high school, I really struggled with the language. In my final year, I was diagnosed with a language learning difficulty and mild dyslexia and dysgraphia—something that finally explained the challenges I had faced with languages. I was truly ashamed of my English. I barely passed my final exams.
But I didn't want to leave it that way! I wanted to improve, but I knew that after 11 years of school, I had learned almost nothing. So, I decided to move to England, where I started from scratch. I still remember my first weekend as an au pair—I couldn't understand the kids, and they couldn't understand me. I Googled everything—from "stroller" and "diapers" to the most basic verbs.
Over time, my English improved, and within a year in England, I learned more than in 11 years of school. During this time, I started paying more attention to the level of English in the Czech Republic and noticed how low it was, as well as the general lack of motivation to learn it. That's when I decided to study English. I knew my English wasn't perfect, but I had a clear vision of why I was doing it—to contribute to a better Czech Republic. To inspire people to travel, explore, learn, and create a better future.
As I've learned from my experiences around the world—English is the key to the world. Now, I travel internationally, constantly improving my English. It still challenges me, but I love overcoming challenges.
Purpose of this Portfolio
This portfolio serves as a collection of my progress, learning experiences, and goals in English. It helps me track my development in different skills—listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Additionally, I want to use it as motivation to keep improving and eventually become an excellent English speaker and teacher.

Teaching materials
When selecting or adapting teaching materials for my future classes, I want to make sure they are meaningful, engaging, and appropriate for my learners' level and needs. From the session on teaching materials, I realised how important it is to choose resources that truly support learning goals instead of using something just because it "looks fun."...

About me
My name is Klara Kadlecová, and if I had to describe myself in one sentence, it would be: Spontaneous, talkative, and fearless.

I love change and seeking my own path—often different from those around me—which makes life exciting for me. I thrive on new experiences, challenges, and pushing my limits. Whether it's traveling, learning, or pursuing my passions, I embrace every opportunity to grow and discover something new.
Little bit more
I come from a small village called Starovice in South Moravia, where hardly anyone speaks English. However, growing up in the countryside gave me the opportunity to be very active in sports—cycling, volleyball, badminton, tennis, running... My parents wanted me to develop in all areas, so they signed me up for piano lessons, dance classes, and pottery workshops, while also making sure I helped a lot at home.
As a reward, they took me traveling around the world, and that's when I realized two things: the importance of English and my deep love for traveling. Since then, I've wanted to visit as many countries as possible.
Another thing that shaped me was my love for children. Ever since I was little, I took care of my cousins and neighbors' kids. I often helped my younger brother with schoolwork, which led my parents to enroll me in a pedagogical high school, where I gained a lot of experience working in kindergartens.
When I combined my three biggest passions—English, sports, and traveling—I realized that becoming a teacher of English and physical education was the perfect path for me. That's why I applied to Masaryk University, and I couldn't be happier, because I'm truly following my dream.
