Course Reflection (Feedback form)
This course has been an exceptionally enriching and transformative experience, significantly exceeding my expectations for professional development. I wholeheartedly agree that the methodologies and techniques demonstrated by our teacher were truly amazing. It is evident from every session that our instructor possesses a wealth of practical experience and pedagogical expertise, which she skillfully translated into tangible, effective teaching models.
What I value most is the exposure to modern, diverse teaching techniques. My personal journey with English education in my secondary and high school years was often frustrating, characterized by dry, repetitive, and often boring methods that focused heavily on rote memorization and mechanical exercises. This experience, unfortunately, led me to believe that I was perhaps simply not adept at language learning. However, this course has proven that the issue was not with me, but with the outdated pedagogical approaches used.
Learning about and actively practicing methods such as using lexical chunks for vocabulary, integrating pronunciation naturally, and the P-P-P (Presentation, Practice, Production) model for grammar has been a revelation. It has shown me that language acquisition can and should be a dynamic, meaningful, and enjoyable process. This shift in perspective is invaluable, as it has not only deepened my understanding of English but also fundamentally shaped the kind of effective, engaging lessons I now aspire to create.
The course successfully bridged the gap between theory and practice, providing me with both the theoretical framework(as seen in the reflective journal topics) and practical tools (such as the micro-teaching activity and the materials session) necessary to become a confident teacher. I am leaving this course with a renewed sense of motivation and a robust set of techniques ready to implement in my future classroom.
